MERRILL – On Monday evening, October 14, the Merrill Marching Jays delivered a powerful performance of Echoes of Darkness for family, friends, and community members in the High School Auditorium. Merrill Police Department Report Week Ending October 13

MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to 16 incidents last week. Two accidents were reported, one of those a hit and run in the parking lot of a local business. There were four reports of domestic disturbance and disorderly conduct. There were five reports of theft. There was one false report of an individual who was deceased and lying against a utility pole. It was found the man was only napping. There were two calls regarding probation violations, and two reports of residents being victims of scammers.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Report Week Ending October 13

LINCOLN COUNTY – Last week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 42 traffic stops and five security checks. There were nine calls involving cars hitting deer. There were seven calls for unsafe driving. On Monday Oct 7, a deputy stopped a vehicle on US Hwy 8 near Woodland Dr for speeding. The 35-year-old driver from Grand Rapids Mi was found to be in possession of Marijuana, and further search revealed more illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. Temporary Road Closure in Council Grounds Due To Bridge Construction

MERRILL – The road through Council Grounds beyond the Family Campground is closed to vehicle traffic through at least October 24. Crews will be replacing the wooden bridge along the river with culverts, as decking on the bridge has become worn. Replacing just the wood decking unfortunately is not an option as the bridge supports are old and need replacing. The new bridge will also make winter plowing much easier. MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 47 calls last week, bringing the total for 2024 to 1,790 calls. There was one call regarding carbon monoxide detector and alarm system activation.
