LINCOLN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT OFFERS TIPS TO PREVENT TICK BITES

Summer has arrived, and that means it’s tick season.

The Lincoln County Health Department has compiled a list of tips to help prevent tick bites. While hiking through the great outdoors, residents are encouraged to wear a long sleeve shirt and pants, use a tick repellent with at least 20% DEET, and walk in the center of trails. Upon completing a hike, you should check yourself and your child or pet for ticks right away and removed any that are found. When returning home, it’s advisable to tumble dry clothes for 10 minutes on high heat.
