On Wednesday July 9th the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office regarding a yellow motorcycle traveling N/B on USH 51 in Marathon County at speeds exceeding 100 MPH. A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy was able to get into position to locate the motorcycle and saw the vehicle pass between two vehicles at a very high rate of speed, clocking it on radar at 121 mph in a 65-mph zone. MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 44 calls last week, bringing the total for 2025 to 1,224. There were 39 EMS calls. There was one alarm system that sounded due to a malfunction. There was also a CO and Smoke Detector activation, both due to system malfunctions.

LINCOLN COUNTY BOARD SET TO VOTE TONIGHT ON RESOLUTION TO POTENTIALLY CLOSE PINE CREST

The Lincoln County Board will vote this evening on a resolution that could begin the process to close Pine Crest permanently. The resolution, passed on a split voice vote by the Administrative and Legislative Committee earlier this month, would instruct the Committee to create a plan and timeline to close Pine Crest by December 31 or earlier if the proposed sale is not completed by August 1, 2025.
