As a part of their ongoing communication during National Preparedness Month, Lincoln County Emergency Management is encouraging residents to research volunteer or CERT opportunities in our region. CERTs, or Community Emergency Response Teams train neighbors in skills such as fire safety, search and rescue, and first aid. DNR URGES RESIDENTS TO USE LOCAL FIREWOOD ONLY

The Department of Natural Resources is reminding residents to use local firewood this fall, in an effort to avoid the spread of invasive species. Firewood is a prime carrier of spongy moth, emerald ash borer, and invasive fungi. Untreated firewood that is removed from the the tree where it was harvested can contain fungi that later emerge to attack trees at the new site.
