POSSIBLE HUMAN REMAINS FOUND IN RUSK COUNTY

Authorities in Rusk County are investigating after suspected human remains were discovered Friday in a local wooded area. According to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, a forester marking trees in the area came across what appeared to be suspected remains and alerted authorities. Deputies were then led into the woods, where the human bones were recovered. In a game heard right here on WJMT and wjmtfm.com yesterday, the Merrill Bluejay girls’ softball team fell to the Division 2 third ranked Mosinee Indians on the road 14-0 in 4 1/2 innings.  Neither Bluejay starter Jacey Lyon nor reliever Abbie Krueger could stem the vaunted Indian attack, as Mosinee batted around in each of the first three innings while amassing a 14-0 lead.  The Bluejays could only muster three singles in the losing effort, which saw their record fall to 10-9 on the season, while the Indians’ record…

LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT: DEER STRIKE ON HIGHWAY 51 LEADS TO MINOR INJURIES FOR VEHICLE OCCUPANTS

Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 54 traffic stops and 23 security checks. There were two calls involving cars hitting a deer, and one where a car hit a turkey. On Sunday, deputies were sent to the area of the 232 mile marker of US Highway 51 regarding a reported deer strike that led to minor injuries to both the driver and passenger.
