TIFFANY CONCEDES GOVERNOR’S RACE, REFLECTS ON DEFEAT
Republican Tom Tiffany is reflecting on his defeat in Wisconsin’s governor’s race, acknowledging both the political climate and shortcomings in his own campaign. Tiffany conceded to Democrat David Crowley Tuesday night during a watch party at the Hilton Garden Inn in Wausau.
Despite the disappointment, Tiffany congratulated Crowley and urged supporters to respond with humility. He also emphasized that both candidates share a commitment to Wisconsin and said he hopes Crowley succeeds as the state’s next governor.
Tiffany pointed to rising costs, including gasoline prices, and dissatisfaction with Republicans nationally as factors in the outcome. He also acknowledged that his campaign didn’t do enough to communicate its message on affordability.
Tiffany continued to defend his positions on lower taxes and limited regulation, saying he believes those policies are important to Wisconsin’s economic success.
Asked about his political future, Tiffany said he plans to discuss it with his family. He emphasized that Wisconsin will remain his home and said he’s ready to consider what comes next.
The congressman ended the evening by thanking supporters and spending time with those gathered at his watch party.
