MERRILL – On Saturday April 26, the Merrill Area Concert Association will host a performance by Nashville based male a cappella group Street Corner Symphony. The group was a runner-up on NBC’s Sing Off in 2010. Music performed by the group includes gospel, rock and pop genres. Street Corner Symphony has performed across the US and Internationally. MERRILL CITY WIDE SPRING BRUSH CLEAN UP WEEK OF APRIL 21

MERRILL – The City of Merrill Streets Department is reminding residents that the week of April 21 is City wide spring brush clean up week. Those looking to discard of unwanted brush should move it to the curb no later than 6 AM on their scheduled garbage pick-up day. Piles of brush are to be positioned with butt ends toward the street next to garbage cans and recyclables. Bundled brush will still be collected throughout the year.

WISCONSIN DNR WARNS EARLY SPRING CONDITIONS FAVORABLE FOR ONGOING WILDFIRES

The Wisconsin DNR is urging residents to avoid any activities that could lead to a spark or flame. More than 450 wildfires have already been investigated across the state this year, 97 of those over just this past week with a growing number here in the Northwoods. The risk of wildfire increases as the snow cover melts prior to vegetation growth. As of Tuesday, much of the state was categorized as facing moderate to very high fire danger levels. LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE REPORT WEEK ENDING APRIL 13

LINCOLN COUNTY – Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 69 traffic stops, 32 security checks, and there were six calls involving cars hitting deer. There were 11 reports of unsafe driving. On Wednesday April 9th, a deputy on patrol pulled over a driver near Birchwood Ave and N 4ths in Tomahawk for not having a valid driver’s license. LINCOLN COUNTY UA EXPRESSES SERIOUS CONCERNS REGARDING PROPOSED PINECREST SALE PROCESS

LINCOLN COUNTY – People for Lincoln County UA recently raised serious concerns in a letter to the County Board of Supervisors regarding the broker’s role in the proposed sale of Pine Crest Nursing Home. ARSENIC TESTING KITS AVAILABLE THROUGH END OF APRIL

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln Heatlh Department is reminding residents that kits are available to test for Arsenic in Well Water. Kits can be purchased from the Health Department at 607 N Sales St from 8:00 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. Those participating can then drop off their kits during the same days and times throughout the remainder of April. Private wells should be tested every 5 years, as exposure to high levels of arsenic comes with very serious health risks.

NEW BASEBALL EXHIBIT TO DEBUT SATURDAY AT MERRILL MUSEUM

MERRILL – The Merrill Museum and Historical Society will host the opening of it’s new baseball focused exhibit “Chatter from Left Field” on Saturday April 12th at 10:00 AM. Mayor Hass will throw the opening pitch. The event will include dice baseball competitions, interactive displays and fun games and prizes. The exhibit, which features Merrill’s former Lady Cardinal and Ranger baseball teams will remain on display for the next 2 years.

ANNUAL YOUTH TURKEY HUNT TAKING PLACE TOMORROW AND SUNDAY

The 2025 youth turkey hunt takes place tomorrow, April 12th and Sunday the 13th. Kids under the age of 16 have the opportunity to gain valuable experience prior to the start of the regular season. Young hunters who wish to participate need a spring turkey license, wild turkey stamp and valid harvest authorization. All of these can be obtained through the DNR website or a licensed sales agent. There is a one male or bearded turkey bag limit for the youth hunt.
