LINCOLN COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH FEBRUARY 26 MEETING NOTES

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Board of Health met on Wednesday, February 26th. Topics of discussion included educating the community and also following up on communicable diseases. The Department of Health has a manual, the law and state guidance which they follow. Additionally, a resolution was presented to ban geoengineering and the spraying of chemicals into our skies. DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE IN TOWN OF SCHLEY ENDS WITH INJURIES, ONE ARREST

TOWN OF SCHLEY – On Saturday March 1st, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the N3200 block of STH 17 in the Town of Schley regarding a domestic disturbance. It was reported to be a physical altercation where the son had punched his father in the face.  Upon arrival deputies separated the 49-year-old father from Merrill from his 24-year-old son, also from Merrill. HOSPITALIZATIONS DUE TO RSV INFECTION ON THE RISE

LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County has seen an increase in hospitalizations over the past month from a major cause of respiratory illness, Respiratory Syncytial Virus. Those hospitalized are infants or adults over the age of 60. Those infected with RSV usually exhibit signs within four to six days after infection, showing typical cold systems along with wheezing and a decreased appetite. SUMMER YOUTH CAMP TO OFFER INSTRUCTION ON FIREFIGHTING SKILLS

MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department is reminding residents that registration is now open for “Fired Up for the Future”, a 5-day summer youth camp for 7th-12th grade students. The event offers the opportunity for youth to be introduced to the fire service, giving instruction on firefighting and EMS skills.  The camp takes place August 3-7 of 2025 at L.E. PUBLIC DISTURBANCE IN MERRILL ENDS IN PROBATION VIOLATION, BAIL JUMPING CHARGES

MERRILL – On Tuesday February 25, Merrill Police Officers responded to a report of a vehicle parked at a closed business playing loud music. Upon arriving the officers made contact with two parties in the vehicle who had been drinking. An arrest was made for the female party for felony bail jumping and a probation violation. The other party, a male resident is being referred for charges of misdemeanor bail jumping.

LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFFS REPORT WEEK ENDING MARCH 2

LINCOLN COUNTY – Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 32 traffic stops, 12 security checks, and two calls involving cars hitting deer. There was one report of unsafe driving. On Thursday February 27th, a deputy was dispatched to the area of USH 51 and USH 8 for the report of a car hitting a deer, injuring the driver. LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Health Department is reminding residents that smoking can make you more susceptible to cardiovascular risks earlier in life. MERRILL BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS FEBRUARY 26 MEETING NOTES

MERRILL – The City of Merrill Board of Public Works held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 26th. Under Consideration were two bids for city street enhancements. The State Street Reconstruction Project was awarded to Jake’s Excavating & Landscaping LLC, who came in with the low bid. ARPA GRANT AVAILABLE TO AID LINCOLN COUNTY RESIDENTS WITH SAFE WELL WATER

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Health Department is reporting Homeowners and business owners making less than $100,000 a year may be eligible for up to $16,000 to provide safe drinking water. Additional criteria for eligibility include testing positive for bacteria in their water or having nitrated, arsenic or PFAS levels exceeding the maximum contaminant level. The American Rescue Plan Act Well Compensation and Well Abandonment Grant programs provide more support to private well owners and increase access to clean drinking water. VEHICLE LEFT IN DITCH IN TOWN OF BRADLEY LEADS TO ARREST FOR OWI

TOWN OF BRADLEY – On Friday, February 21 Lincoln County Sheriff Deputies were sent to the area of CTH E and STH 86 in the Town of Bradley for the report of a vehicle in the ditch.
