MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department responded to 45 calls last week, bringing the total for 2025 to 916. There were 41 EMS calls. One building fire occurred on Superior St in the City of Merrill on Tuesday May 20, and there was a motor vehicle accident on STH 107 in the Town of Rock Falls early Sunday morning May 25 resulting in injuries.

Upon further investigation it was learned that the male subject had an open bond prohibiting contact with anyone under the age of 18. The individual was identified and confirmed to the officer that he had been at the location and had in fact spoken with the woman and child. As a result, he will face two counts of felony bail jumping.

The Semco building located in that section of the trail sustained some damage and is experiencing issues with the ongoing windy conditions.
