NORTHWOODS UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES VARIED FOR MARCH

The most recent unemployment estimates have been released by the Department of Workforce Development, and Northwoods job rates showed a varied trend. Lincoln County saw improvement, dropping from 4.6% to 4.5% in March, while Oneida County’s rate increased from 4.5% to 4.9%. Following several months of minimal change the Northwoods saw an increase in unemployment estimates in January, per job data released this week by the Department of Workforce Development. 71 of the state’s 72 counties saw an increase over December numbers. Lincoln County figures jumped from 3.1% in December to 4.5% in January, while Oneida County rose from 3.4% to 4.7% and Vilas County from 3.7% to 5.1%.
