MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department is engaging in fire education in local schools again this fall, with the goal of teaching fire prevention to preschool through 5th grade students. Merrill Police Department Report for Week Ending September 8th

MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to 7 incidents last week. There were 2 accidents reported, one on Theilman St on Saturday, September 7th involving two vehicles and causing property damage. A call was received for vandalism at a local business. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Report for Week Ending September 8

LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 67 traffic stops last week.  There were 20 security checks. Deputies responded to 8 calls involving cars hitting deer, and one call of a car hitting a bear. Deputies followed up on 9 calls for unsafe driving. On Saturday September 7, deputies were alerted to a wrong-way driver, traveling S/B on the N/B lanes of US Hwy 51 near mile marker 222 in the Town of Birch. Garage Fire in Town of Rock Falls Monday September 9 Causes Heat and Smoke Damage

TOWN OF ROCK FALLS – The Merrill Fire Department received a call at 3:32 PM on Monday, September 9 with a report of a garage fire at N4459 Mary Todd Court in the Town of Rock Falls. MERRILL – The Merrill Fire Department was honored this past week with a distinguished recognition from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, earning the title of a Gold Helmet Department. The NIOSH recognizes U.S. fired departments that enroll 50% of their active firefighters or more than 300 of their active firefighters in the National Firefighter Registry (NFR) for Cancer as a Gold Helmet Department. Lincoln County Landfill to Close Tuesday Morning September 10, Re-Open Wednesday

LINCOLN COUNTY – Due to unforeseen necessary scale maintenance, the Lincoln County landfill will be closing on Tuesday September 10 at 8:30 AM. The landfill is also limited to only scaling loads under 60K lbs until the scale maintenance is completed. The landfill will be accepting refuse beginning at 7 AM on Tuesday, until the scheduled 8:30 am closing. Regular business hours will resume on Wednesday September 11 at 7:00 AM.
