Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Report For Week Ending June 9th

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 35 traffic stops in the last week. A transport driver was injured after a single vehicle accident in Lincoln County Thursday (June 6th) on County MM in the Town of Corning. The truck, carrying Amazon packages, left the roadway and struck a row of trees. It wasn’t clear why the truck left the roadway. The driver, a 30 year old North Dakota man, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital. Deputies safely located 2 runaway juveniles in the Tomahawk area. The kids…

One Person Injured, One Dead In Sunday June 9th Accident On Highway 51

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received multiple calls Sunday June 9th at around 10:55 PM regarding a two vehicle crash on US Hwy 51, just north of Tamarack Lane in the Town of Skanawan. Deputies arriving at the scene found a silver SUV overturned in the roadway with a 20 year old woman from Crandon trapped inside. Merrill WWII Veteran Ralph Wehlitz Hits Century Mark

World War II veteran and model railroad enthusiast Ralph Wehlitz hit the century mark last week. The Merrill resident turned 100 yrs old on Thursday June 6th. A one-hundredth birthday bash was held at the Polka-Dotted Pie in Merrill, and friends from the model railroading community came from as far away as Marinette to join the celebration. Today, Friday June 7th through Sunday June 9th Merrill is once again hosting the annual Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo. Lincoln County Sheriff Department Report Week Ending June 2nd, 2024

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 40 traffic stops in the last week. Two were for reckless driving, both ending with the driver being placed under arrest for first offense of OWI. There was also a report of a physical domestic disturbance, where one person was injured and had to be transported to the emergency room. Deputies responded to 16 crashes involving cars hitting deer. The 911 Center took 10 calls throughout the week.

Merrill Bluejays Golf Team Places 8th in Sectionals, Schmeltzer Earnes 2nd Team All Conference Honors

The Merrill Bluejays Golf team placed 8th in sectional play on May 28th, shooting a team score of 349. The low individual score for the team came from Parker Kebenow, shooting an 85 and finishing in a tie for 19th place. Jacob Schmeltzer also earned 2nd Team All Conference honors this year for the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Coach Andy Plisch shared that It was a good year for the Bluejays overall, with the team advancing to the sectionals for the first time since 2011.

Merrill High School Bluejays Season Ends In Extra Inning Thriller

In an extra inning thriller that took place in Medford on Tuesday, the Merrill Bluejays Varsity Baseball team lost their sectional finals playoff game 5-3 to the Medford Raiders. The Bluejays scored single runs in the second, third and fifth innings. The Merrill defense then gave up a single run in the third and two in the fifth. The Merrill Police Department responded to 14 incidents this past week. One call was for a vehicle crash involving a local residence. Four calls came in for theft, 1 from a vehicle and 3 from local businesses. There was 1 traffic stop that involved alcohol, ending with a refusal to test and an arrest for OWI.
