MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT INCLUDES BATTERY OF ELDERLY BY A JUVENILE, ALCOHOL PROVIDED TO UNDERAGE INDIVIDUALS

MERRILL – During the week ending November 2nd, the Merrill Police Department responded to 20 incidents, while officers conducted approximately 40 traffic stops and 36 security checks.

On Friday a request was submitted for a welfare check because a 20-yr-old male who was intoxicated was causing a disturbance. After an investigation of the incident the man was being transported to jail and he bit the door panel inside the squad car. He was eventually arrested on seven separate counts and was cited for underage drinking. There were two instances of arrests for probation violations, two instances of theft,  two instances of possession of an illegal substance, two arrests for OWI, two reports of property damage, five reports of disorderly conduct – two of those domestic in nature, and two reports of potential fraud that are still under investigation.

Other incidents included battery of an elderly person by a juvenile who was referred to social services, and a case involving a man accused of providing alcohol to six underage individuals between the ages 14 and 19.
