Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 32 traffic stops and 33 security checks. There were 10 calls involving cars hitting deer.   On Thursday (12/4) the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a domestic disturbance in the City of Tomahawk by the Tomahawk Police Department. DNR STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF SAFETY ON THE ICE DURING WINTER ACTIVITIES

The Wisconsin DNR is urging outdoor enthusiasts to make safety on the ice a top priority. Residents should check local ice conditions with bait shops or clubs, wear proper clothing and equipment, carry safety equipment and have a plan should an ice emergency occur. ATV, UTV and snowmobile operators are advised to proceed slowly, avoid alcohol and to not travel in unfamiliar areas or at night. TOMAHAWK MAN FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES FOLLOWING THREATS MADE IN LINCOLN AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES

A man accused of making threats toward a Tomahawk grocery store is now facing additional charges in Washington County. Court records show 23-year-old Nicholas Wolf is charged with making a terrorist threat there. He was arrested November 25 following a multi-jurisdictional investigation into violent threats at several locations. In Washington County, the alleged threat targeted the Kewaskum School District, leading to a closure and early dismissal on November 24. NORTHWOODS LIBRARIES TO RECEIVE GRANTS FROM CARNEGIE FOUNDATION

Several Northwoods libraries will receive $10,000 grants from the Carnegie Foundation as part of a nationwide effort marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Wisconsin once had 65 Carnegie-funded libraries, and two local sites are on the list: the Rhinelander District Library, built in 1903, and Merrill’s TB Scott Free Library. Rhinelander’s director calls the grant a timely boost as they move ahead with a multi-phase renovation and restoration project. Funds from the grants will be awarded in January.

GENRICH REACHES PLEA AGREEMENT IN RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT CASE

An Athens man accused of cutting another man’s brake lines on several occasions has reached a plea agreement. Twenty-four-year-old David Genrich pleaded no contest to attempted first-degree recklessly endangering safety and three counts of criminal damage to property, while five additional charges were dismissed but will be considered at sentencing.
