SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN LINCOLN COUNTY REOPENING, ATV USE LIMITED
Effective 4pm today, Lincoln County’s funded snowmobile trails in Zones 2,3 and 4 will officially reopen. The Hiawatha Trail and trails in Zone 1 remain open. Zone 1 trails are in good condition overall; however, riders should be on the lookout for the possibility of scattered bare spots especially on roadsides. Trail conditions are better in forested areas.
Zones 2,3 and 4 trail conditions are listed as fair to good, with the best areas for riding, again in forested areas. Overall, these trails are described as “early season” with some rough and icy stretches with minimal snow cover. The potential exists for bare spots in open farm fields and on roadsides, so riders should proceed with caution.
Not all Snowmobile trails are open to Winter ATV use, and ATVs are not permitted when temps are over 28°F. A trail map outlining where ATV use is permitted can be found on the Lincoln County website in the recreation section. ATV trails in Zones 2, 3, 4 will remain closed until 8:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
