MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT WEEK ENDING MARCH 1

During the week ending March 1st, the Merrill Police Department responded to thirteen incidents. Officers conducted approximately 40 traffic stops and 94 security checks.

On Tuesday, a report was received from a local convenience store regarding an elderly woman on site who was visibly shaken and said she was not able to drive. Further investigation revealed she had experienced vehicle issues prior to arriving in Merrill, keeping her from making it home before dark. The woman had a license restriction prohibiting her from driving in the dark and she felt unsafe doing so. The officer who responded to the call took her to a local hotel where she agreed to spend the night and drive home the next morning in the daylight.

Other activity included an arrest for driving under the influence where there was discovery of drug paraphernalia, five arrests for probation violations and open warrants, a citation issued for a dog defecating on a neighbor’s property, two reports of scam activity, a citation issued for illegal dumping, one instance of theft, and a citation issued for disorderly conduct.
