A deadly stabbing reported early Sunday in the Town of Norrie is currently under investigation by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say deputies were called just after 12:30 a.m. to a home in the 183000 block of Norrie Road after receiving a report that a man had been stabbed. When deputies arrived, they found 57-year-old Thomas J. Anker suffering from a stab wound and immediately began lifesaving efforts. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Merrill Fire Department responded to 38 calls last week, bringing the total for 2026 to 711 calls. There were 36 EMS calls. There was a vehicle fire Wednesday on East 8t Street in the City of Merrill.
