MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT: MAN ARRESTED FOR ‘GROOMING’
The Merrill Police Department responded to 15 incidents during the week ending June 21st. Officers conducted approximately 23 traffic stops and 87 security checks.
Monday evening, a report was received regarding a juvenile’s phone being taken by a male co-worker who then added the juvenile’s number to it. The individual proceeded to send harassing texts to her, and it was discovered he sent a sexual request to the juvenile and other co-workers came forward to report other conduct. The suspect was located and arrested for grooming of a child for sexual activity, unlawful use of a computer and two counts of disorderly conduct.
Other activity included four instances of disorderly conduct – one of those involving a motor vehicle, two reports of fraud, two arrests for probation violations and felony bail jumping, two lost and found reports, and one arrest on an open warrant. There was one report of theft, an arrest for resisting an officer, and a public intoxication incident.
