Bluejay Boys Drop Double-Header at Home to Rangers
In a pair of games heard right here on WJMT and wjmtfm.com, the Merrill Post 46 baseball team saw their record drop to 2-10 as they lost both halves of a double-header to the Wisconsin Rapids Rangers 12-5 and 9-4. The two teams face off again in Wisconsin Rapids Thursday with the Nicollet Bank pre-game show beginning at 6:45 and first pitch at 7:00.
The first game saw Merrill starter Quinton Kurtzhals give up six runs in the first inning before giving way to AmericInn Player of the Game Andrew Josinger (pictured) who finished up the last six innings on the hill. The Bluejays got their five runs in the third on only one hit, a two RBI single by Cooper Wendorf.
In the second game, Bluejay starter Cam Wallin gave up only one run in his first four innings of work before the Rangers scored eight runs off him and AmericInn Player of the Game Brody Klebenow (also pictured), who returned from missing two months of action with a serious hip injury that occurred in spring playoff action against Wisconsin Dells. Klebenow played both first base and in the outfield in both games of the twin bill before taking the mound when Wallin reached the 105 pitch limit. The Bluejays managed only a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
The Bluejay girls return to action tonight at the MARC, with there-game show beginning at 6:45 and first pitch at 7:00. You can catch all the action on WJMTFM.com snd, weather permitting, on WJMT-TV on YouTube.
