The Merrill Police Department responded to 14 incidents during the week ending November 1st. Officers conducted approximately 11 traffic stops and 37 security checks.
While serving a search warrant at a local residence Monday, an occupant abruptly attempted to flee, slamming an officer’s hand in the door. The suspect was arrested on charges of battery to law enforcement and resisting an officer. A THC vape found on the suspect also led to a possession charge.
Other activity included a property damage complaint, a disorderly conduct report stemming from a road rage incident that started in a store parking lot, three theft reports, and an arrest for resisting an officer. A warrant was also forwarded to the district attorney’s office for domestic battery. Police investigated two vehicle crashes, one involving inattentive driving. The other resulted in an OWI arrest, along with citations for operating without insurance and unnecessary acceleration. Additional arrests included a man accused of battery and strangulation at a local tavern, and a man cited for bail jumping after allegedly violating bond conditions prohibiting alcohol consumption.
