The Merrill Police Department responded to eight incidents during the week ending June 14th. Officers conducted approximately 23 traffic stops and 95 security checks. On Sunday, a mini four-wheeler was seen driving through Stange’s Park. Officers sent to the scene located the vehicle and knew the driver had recently received numerous warnings regarding where he should and should not be driving the ATV. The Merrill Police Department responded to eleven incidents during the week ending May 3rd. Officers conducted approximately 20 traffic stops and 54 security checks. On Sunday, a caller from Marathon County alerted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office that an intoxicated driver was en route to Merrill. A Merrill Police Officer located the vehicle and driver at the driver’s home shortly after the call was received. MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT: K9 DASTY SEARCH REVEALS POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES

The Merrill Police Department responded to eleven incidents during the week ending April 26th. Officers conducted approximately 52 traffic stops and 117 security checks. On Friday, a vehicle registration query by an officer revealed the owner had a suspended driver’s license. The officer stopped the vehicle, and during the stop K9 Dasty completed an exterior sniff of the vehicle. The K9 inspection produced a positive alert for an illegal substance, and a search by officers uncovered several methamphetamine items. MERRILL POLICE REPORT: FIREARMS ALLEGEDLY STOLEN FROM LOCAL RESIDENCE

During the week ending February 15th, the Merrill Police Department responded to seven incidents. Officers conducted approximately 57 traffic stops and 101 security checks. On Wednesday, officers responded to a residence regarding a report that multiple firearms were missing. Officers spoke to the reporting party regarding the alleged theft, and an investigation into the matter is ongoing. Other activity included two arrests for out of area open warrants, two probation violations, an instance of disorderly conduct, and an arrest for OWI 4th offense following a traffic stop.

MERRILL – During the week ending October 26, the Merrill Police Department responded to 14 incidents, while officers conducted approximately 37 traffic stops and 62 security checks. On Monday October 20th, an officer completed a traffic stop of a vehicle that was speeding and noticed signs of impairment with the driver. MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to eleven incidents last week. Officers conducted approximately 10 traffic stops and 79 security checks. There were two instances of theft, three reports of disorderly conduct and public nuisance, three reports of probation violations and bail jumping, and two reports of a hit and run though neither were substantiated. There was a report of possible gunshots at a local government building on Wednesday. Further investigation revealed the noise was caused by something other than a firearm.
