There were nine reports of unsafe driving. On Saturday March 8th, the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a reckless driver traveling S/B on USH 51 near the 224-mile marker. During one stop, a deputy on patrol observed a vehicle leaving a Kwik Trip on East Main St in Merrill, that he recognized as a vehicle of interest by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office for involvement in a shoplifting case. Upon locating the items that had been stolen in the vehicle, the alleged subject was transported to the Oneida County line where she was turned over to the investigating deputy. LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 42 traffic stops last week. There was a report of one crash with multiple injuries on US Hwy 8 near Honey Rd, in the Township of Wilson. Deputies from both Lincoln and Oneida counties were dispatched to the scene.  There were 33 security checks performed. Deputies also responded to 2 calls involving cars hitting deer and followed up on 14 calls for unsafe driving. The 911 center took seven nuisance calls. There were two hang-up calls.

LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 56 traffic stops last week. There was one crash in the town of Birch on US Hwy 51 north of County Hwy V where a driver stated that he believed he had fallen asleep at the wheel causing his vehicle to veer off the road and into a nearby field. Minor injuries to the driver were reported.  Deputies responded to 13 calls involving cars hitting animals, 10 of those involving deer. There were 24 security checks.
