Lincoln County Farm Reports Wolf Attacks

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reports that a beef calf was killed and an adult cow injured by wolves recently on a local farm in the Town of Pine River. The depredation and injury were verified by the US Department pf Agriculture on June 8, 2024. The DNR said that discussions are taking place with the livestock producer regarding non-lethal abatement options. Lincoln County Highway Committee July 10 Meeting Summary

MERRILL – The Lincoln County Highway Committee held their monthly meeting on July 10th in the County Service Center. Two discussions took place surrounding Highway 107. The route is now open for ATV / UTV use on the stretch that passes through the Town of Rock Falls. Committee member Ken Wickham said WisDOT has reported that they do not currently support lowering the speed limit on that stretch of road. 18-Year-Old Driver Arrested in Merrill On Alcohol And Drug Related Charges

MERRILL – On Thursday July 4th, a Lincoln County Deputy on patrol stopped to check on a vehicle sitting with its hazard lights blinking at CTH’s Q and Z just south of Merrill in the Town of Scott. Upon making contact with the 18-year-old male driver, the deputy noticed an odor of intoxicants. The driver agreed to standard field sobriety tests. Merrill Police Department Report For Week Ending July 7

MERRILL – The Merrill Police Department responded to 16 incidents last week. Six calls were received for disturbances and disorderly conduct, one of those involving public intoxication where the subject was arrested immediately for bail conditions prohibiting him from drinking. There were three crashes reported. One was a hit and run, and then another single vehicle accident where the driver struck a telephone pole resulting in an arrest for 1st offense OWI. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Report For Week Ending July 7

LINCOLN COUNTY – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 56 traffic stops last week. There was one crash in the town of Birch on US Hwy 51 north of County Hwy V where a driver stated that he believed he had fallen asleep at the wheel causing his vehicle to veer off the road and into a nearby field. Minor injuries to the driver were reported.  Deputies responded to 13 calls involving cars hitting animals, 10 of those involving deer. There were 24 security checks. MOSINEE – The Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) has been informed by representatives of Avelo Airlines that effective August 31, 2024, services between Central Wisconsin and Orlando will be discontinued. This does not impact flights scheduled from now until August 31. MERRILL – Despite several on-line reports of proposed Walgreen’s closings, it will continue to be “business as usual” for the Merrill store. According to a memo displayed in the store pharmacy and local store management, the Merrill Walgreens will not be closing, and said the location closure lists that are circulating were not issued by Walgreens.
