MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT: TWO CITATIONS ISSUED FOR UNDERAGE POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL

The Merrill Police Department responded to nine incidents during the week ending May 17th. Officers conducted approximately 26 traffic stops and 102 security checks.

On Friday, there was a report of a male at a local tavern in violation of an open bond. The officer who received the information confirmed the suspect did in fact have a bond prohibiting him from being on the premises of a tavern. The individual left the tavern prior to the officer’s arrival and was seen entering his residence a short time later but would not answer the door. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Other activity included a student being caught with possession of an illegal substance, an accident on Center Ave where a driver fell asleep at the wheel and struck the vehicle in front of them, and one report of theft. Two citations were issued for underage individuals in possession alcohol – one of those including shoplifting, and another citation was issued for animal at large after a caller reported a loose dog chased him into his residence. There were two arrests for probation violations.
