Bluejays Fall to Wausau 11-1 in Legion Baseball
In a game heard right here on WJMT and wjmtfm.com, the Post 46 American Legion boys’ baseball team saw its record fall to 2-11 with an 11-1 mercy-rule shortened loss to the Wausau Post 10 Bulldogs. The Bluejays saw AmericInn Player of the Game Brody Klebenow (pictured) drive in the Bluejays sole run with the second of his two triples in the contest. The Bulldogs score twice in the first and single runs in the third and fourth innings before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fifth. Two Bluejay errors along with a walk and hit batter opened the floodgates and led to the end of the game with one out in the bottom of the fifth. Bluejay starter Quinton Kurtzhals took the loss and was relieved in the fifth by Andrew Josinger.
WJMT and wjmtfm.com coverage of American Legion activity resumes Monday with a double-header at Wausau’s Sunnyvale Park in girls’ regional action on July 20-21. Merrill takes on Shawano in the first game on July 21 and plays either Wausau or Crandon in the second game that night, with action continuing Tuesday afternoon unless the Bluejay girls lose both games on Monday. The girls are guaranteed to make the state tournament regardless of how they do in regional action as the host team in state action on 31 July-2 August at the MARC. You can hear all of the action next Monday on WJMT and wjmtfm.com with the Nicolet Bank pre-game show starting at 4:45 and first pitch at 5:00.
