New Merrill Airport Hangar Brings Aviation Repair, Training Under One Roof

A new three-million-dollar maintenance hangar is being dedicated today at the Merrill Airport. The 100-by-100-foot facility is home to Park City Aviation, providing aircraft maintenance and repair services while also serving as a training site for local high school students in the Youth Apprentice program.

Airport officials say having an aviation repair operation of this type makes Merrill a destination for pilots from across Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, while giving future aircraft mechanics valuable hands-on experience.

The project was funded through federal and state dollars, along with local tax increment financing. Congressman Tom Tiffany is joining local officials for today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The dedication begins at 3:30 this afternoon at 1701 Champagne Drive, just north of the NTC Public Safety Center of Excellence.
