MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT: JUVENILE SUSPECT THROWS ROCK AT SQUAD CAR

The Merrill Police Department responded to 14 incidents during the week ending August 23rd. Officers conducted approximately 23 traffic stops and 123 security checks.

On Monday, while assisting the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office regarding the whereabouts of a juvenile, an Officer had his squad car damaged by a rock that was thrown by the juvenile when the Officer encountered him. The juvenile was referred for criminal damage to property along with other charges.

Other activity included two additional reports of criminal damage to property, two reports of theft, four instances of disorderly conduct, two arrests for OWI – one of those for the driver of an ATV, one instance of trespassing, an arrest for a probation violation, and an officer providing assistance to a member of the public. A domestic dispute on Monday resulted in arrests for battery, strangulation or suffocation, intimidation of a victim, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Failure to yield at the Merrill roundabout on Saturday resulted in a vehicle vs motorcycle crash. A citation was issued to the offending driver.
