LINCOLN COUNTY FAIR BEGINS TODAY

The Lincoln County Fair gets underway today at the Merrill Fairground. This year’s theme is “Kickin’ It Up at the Lincoln 2026 County Fair”. Activities will be taking place between noon and 7 pm at the Expo Building and Livestock Pavilion. In addition to the always popular rides and games, this year’s fair will feature line dancing and plenty of Live music and entertainment. LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT: EXPIRED REGISTRATION STOP ENDS WITH OWI ARREST

Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 34 traffic stops and 32 security checks. There were 3 calls involving cars hitting deer. On Wednesday, a traffic stop completed by an on-duty deputy on East River and North 4th Streets in Tomahawk for a vehicle with expired registration led to a first offense OWI arrest. The deputy noticed signs of impairment when speaking with the driver, Kelly Menore of Milwaukee. Menore agreed to sobriety testing, which led to the OWI arrest.

Oneida County Deputy Cleared in Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

An Oneida County deputy will not face criminal charges following a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in June in the Town of Lake Tomahawk. After reviewing the investigation conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, the Oneida County District Attorney determined Deputy Justin Orth was justified in using deadly force. The shooting happened June 17 as Deputies Orth and Alyssa Knabenbauer attempted to arrest 76-year-old John Krga on charges of first-degree sexual assault of a child and repeated sexual assault of the same child.According to investigators,…

Wisconsin Unveils New Rotary Specialty License Plate

Wisconsin drivers now have a new specialty license plate option honoring Rotary International. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of Motor Vehicles has introduced the new plate, recognizing Rotary’s mission of promoting service, integrity and peace through its network of business, professional and community leaders. The Rotary plate joins more than 70 specialty license plate designs currently available through the Wisconsin DMV. Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash Under Investigation in Langlade County

The Langlade County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a three-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Tigerton man and injured four others Saturday evening. Authorities say the crash occurred just before 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 45 and County Road B in the Town of Upham.A 61-year-old man from Tigerton was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people were injured in the crash and transported to area hospitals for treatment. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Bluejay American Legion Girls’ Softball Drop Two in State Tournament

In a pair of games heard Friday and Saturday on WJMT, wjmtfm.com, and the WJMT app and seen Saturday on WJMT-TV on YouTube, the Merrill Post 46 girls’ softball team saw their title chase end as they lost Friday to a hard-hitting Medford squad 12-0 and Saturday 12-2 to the Allenton Blue Hawks. Both games were shortened to five innings and six innings respectfully due to the mercy rule.
