New Merrill Airport Hangar Brings Aviation Repair, Training Under One Roof

A new three-million-dollar maintenance hangar is being dedicated today at the Merrill Airport. The 100-by-100-foot facility is home to Park City Aviation, providing aircraft maintenance and repair services while also serving as a training site for local high school students in the Youth Apprentice program. Airport officials say having an aviation repair operation of this type makes Merrill a destination for pilots from across Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, while giving future aircraft mechanics valuable hands-on experience. MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT: THREE INCIDENTS AT LINCOLN COUNTY FAIR

The Merrill Police Department responded to 14 incidents during the week ending August 2nd. Officers conducted approximately 24 traffic stops and 91 security checks. Officers responded to the report of a domestic altercation in Merrill on Tuesday where a male and female were yelling and throwing things. The male was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. Two Arrested Following Reported Threats in Lincoln County

Two Merrill men are facing charges following a reported disturbance Sunday in the Town of Scott. Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Joe Snow Road after a man reported that Cayson Kendall threatened him with a knife and pointed it at him. Deputies say the reporting party provided video of the incident, and also reported Kendall threatened to shoot him. ATV RIDER INJURED IN CRASH IN TOWN OF HARRISON

A weekend ATV crash in the Town of Harrison sent one person to the hospital. Lincoln County deputies were called Saturday to the trail shelter at County Highway B and Ski Hill Road, where a group of riders had brought an injured ATV operator to meet an ambulance. Investigators say several ATVs had been traveling together when two failed to arrive at a planned meeting point. LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT: IRMA WOMAN ARRESTED FOR PROBATION VIOLATION

Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 56 traffic stops and 22 security checks. There were 7 incidents involving cars hitting deer. Deputies were sent dispatched to the Town of Birch on Tuesday regarding a reported disturbance in progress on Ainsworth Avenue. A female party who had been drinking was allegedly throwing objects and yelling. As deputies arrived, they spoke with the suspect, Melissa Gronholm of Irma and determined her drinking was in violation of her probation rules. Weston Man Charged in Shooting, High-Speed Chase

A Weston man is facing attempted homicide and several other felony charges following a shooting and a high-speed pursuit in Marathon County. Twenty-three-year-old Jacob Lo is accused of shooting a person outside the M&R Station in Wausau on August 2nd. The victim was able to drive to a hospital for treatment. Investigators say surveillance video linked Lo to the shooting and a vehicle seen leaving the scene. Lo was arrested three days later after officers spotted him in Wausau. Highway 17 Project Moved Up

A major road improvement project on Highway 17 in Lincoln County will begin later this month after state transportation officials accelerated the construction schedule. The work will take place between Highway 64 and Big Hay Meadow Creek in the Town of Merrill. In addition to replacing the roadway, crews will also improve the intersections at County Highways G and C. MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT: INTOXICATED DRIVER STOPPED FOR SPEEDING, FIREARMS IN VEHICLE

The Merrill Police Department responded to seven incidents during the week ending August 2nd. Officers conducted approximately 42 traffic stops and 96 security checks. Officers completed a traffic stop of a vehicle that was speeding on Saturday. The officers learned that the driver was intoxicated while interacting with them during the stop. Antigo Police Identify Bicyclist Killed in Crash with Semi

Police have identified the bicyclist who died following a crash involving a semi-truck Tuesday afternoon in Antigo. Authorities say 45-year-old William Hildenbrand of Antigo was riding his bicycle when he collided with a semi that was making a wide turn at the intersection of 10th Avenue and Superior Street shortly before 2 p.m. Hildenbrand was pronounced dead at the scene. The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting with crash reconstruction as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
