MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT: MULTIPLE REPORTS OF VEHICLE BREAK-INS
The Merrill Police Department responded to 14 incidents during the week ending August 30th. Officers conducted approximately 17 traffic stops and 79 security checks.
On Friday, officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Thielman Street for reports of multiple vehicle break-ins and stolen personal items from those vehicles. The investigation surrounding the break-ins is ongoing.
Other activity included the issuance of a citation for misuse of 911, and arrests for lewd and lascivious behavior, a probation violation, and resisting and obstructing an officer – all stemming from one incident. There were two additional reports of vehicles being damaged or broken into. One caller reported an unauthorized use of their credit card, and another reported being scammed online. There were two instances of theft, and one report of a wallet being found and returned to its owner. An incident at a local park on Wednesday involving two juveniles led to one of the juveniles being referred to social services for battery and strangulation after putting the other juvenile in a choke hold.
