WIS DOT REMINDS RESIDENTS TO HAVE PROPER ID AS SPRING ELECTION SEASON APPROACHES

Ahead of the Tuesday April 7th Spring Election, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles is reminding residents that they must have proper ID in order to vote. A driver license or State issued ID are acceptable, while a federally compliant REAL ID is not required. Military or student ID cards are valid, per the Wisconsin Elections Commission. Voters can visit the Wisconsin Elections Commission website to confirm if a card meets requirements.

A list of the required documents that are needed to present at a DMV Customer Service Center in order to obtain identification to show at the polls can be found at wisconsindmv.gov/idcards. A free process is available to U.S. citizens to obtain a receipt valid to take to the polls for voting if the ID card is not available in time.

DMV’s toll-free hotline (844) 588-1069 is available for questions on obtaining an ID that can be used to vote.
