On Thursday, a caller reported an unresponsive male in his vehicle in the middle of the road near the intersection of CTH C and Mosser Rd in the Town of Schley. There were four calls involving cars hitting deer, one where a car hit a turkey, and one where a car struck a bear. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating thefts of copper wire from Frontier roadside work sites. Within the last couple of weeks, approximately ten sites have been hit within Lincoln County. On Sunday, deputies were sent to the area of the 232 mile marker of US Highway 51 regarding a reported deer strike that led to minor injuries to both the driver and passenger. The Sheriff’s Office received a call on Monday regarding an intoxicated driver that was headed to Merrill. After prompt follow up by an officer from the Merrill Police Department, the individual was eventually located and placed under arrest for numerous charges.

Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 43 traffic stops and 43 security checks. There were six calls involving cars hitting deer, and one call for a car hitting a turkey.   On Thursday, there was an altercation between two inmates at the Lincoln County Jail, Philip Novak and Shawn Morris. Novak was taken to Aspirus Merrill Hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained during the fight. Battery by Prisoner charges will be filed with the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office for both prisoners.

There were four calls involving cars hitting deer, and one incident where a sheriff department cruiser struck a large muskrat. On Saturday, a deputy patrolling in the Town of Corning saw a vehicle traveling left of center on County Highway Z. During a traffic stop of the vehicle for the violation, the deputy noticed signs of impairment with the driver, Raymond Wickkiser of Deerbrook so he asked him to complete  sobriety tests which he agreed to.…
