MAYO TRIAL DELAYED FOLLOWING SPRING ELECTION RESULTS

There won’t be a trial in mid-July for a Wausau man accused of attempted homicide. Desmond Mayo was scheduled for an eight-day trial beginning July 13th, but that was canceled on Tuesday after one of his attorneys, Michael Hughes, won the spring election for Marathon County Branch 3 Judge, making him ineligible to handle the case. The 32-year-old is accused of shooting another person in February 20-23, then fleeing the state. The victim managed to drive themselves to the hospital and identified Mayo as the shooter.
