The Merrill Police Department responded to nine incidents during the week ending March 8th. Officers conducted approximately 43 traffic stops and 95 security checks. On Tuesday, a caller reported her brother hit her mother with a key lanyard causing injury to her leg. Investigation revealed the juvenile son swung the lanyard at his mother’s leg during a disagreement about vehicle usage. The juvenile was referred to Lincoln County Social Services. During the week ending March 1st, the Merrill Police Department responded to thirteen incidents. Officers conducted approximately 40 traffic stops and 94 security checks. On Tuesday, a report was received from a local convenience store regarding an elderly woman on site who was visibly shaken and said she was not able to drive. Further investigation revealed she had experienced vehicle issues prior to arriving in Merrill, keeping her from making it home before dark. During the week ending February 22nd, the Merrill Police Department responded to eight incidents. Officers conducted approximately 69 traffic stops and 113 security checks. On Friday, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy requested a K9 traffic stop within city limits. K9 Dasty conducted a drug sniff on the vehicle and indicated a positive alert, and a syringe containing methamphetamine was located when the vehicle was searched.
