WITH NEW HANGAR IN SERVICE, MERRILL AIRPORT LOOKS TO EXPAND MAINTENANCE SERVICES

Friday afternoon, the City of Merrill dedicated the new maintenance hangar at the Merrill Municipal Airport.

“We are so pleased to have this hangar open. I’t been a long term project, probably about six years we’ve been working on it” shared Gary Schwartz, Chairman of the Merrill Municipal Airport Commission. “It’s 100’x100′, about 10,000 square feet, basically about three times the size of the hangar we were working out of.” He noted that the mechanical staff at the facility has expanded from one man to three, and apprentice work is being completed with students. Schwartz added “I’m guessing that within a year to 18 months there will be five full time mechanics working in this hangar.”

Several city leaders were on hand for the dedication, along with U.S. Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany, who cut the ceremonial ribbon officially opening the new hangar.
