River Bend Trail Extension Connects Merrill to Council Grounds

Merrill residents and visitors have a new stretch of paved trail to explore following the completion of an extension connecting the River Bend Trail directly to Council Grounds.

The addition brings the paved route to approximately five miles, improving connections between the state park area on Merrill’s west side and destinations toward the east side of the city. The trail offers walkers and bicyclists another way to travel through the community while enjoying the outdoors. The extension is part of Merrill’s ongoing investment in recreational infrastructure and outdoor access. The River Bend Trail provides opportunities for residents to get outside while giving visitors another way to experience the Merrill area.

The project was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony involving the City of Merrill and Friends of the River Bend Trail.

Another opportunity to enjoy the trail is coming up Friday, October 23, when the first annual Boo on the Trail event is scheduled to take place.

The completed extension adds to Merrill’s outdoor recreation options and strengthens the trail’s role as a community asset for residents and visitors alike.
