In a pair of games heard right here on WJMT and wjmtfm.com, a depleted Merrill Bluejays Post 46 squad dropped a pair of conference baseball games to Plover, losing the first game 13-0 in 4 1/2 innings and the nightcap after a short rain delay 12-1 also in 4 1/2 innings.  The losses saw the Bluejays record fall to 2-8, while the Black Sox of Plover saw their record increase to 8-6. DNR Launches Holiday Boating Safety Campaign

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is stepping up patrols on lakes and rivers during the Independence Day weekend as part of the nationwide Operation Dry Water campaign. From July 3rd through the 5th, conservation wardens will work alongside other law enforcement agencies to crack down on impaired boating through increased patrols, safety checks and public education. State officials say alcohol continues to be a major factor in fatal boating crashes. Last year, alcohol was involved in one-third of Wisconsin’s 15 deadly boating incidents. 67-Year-Old Prentice Man Dies in Worcester Lake Drowning Saturday

The Price County Sheriff’s Office has released information regarding a drowning on Worcester Lake in the Township of Hackett on Saturday. A report was received at 4:30 PM stating a 67-year-old Prentice man had gone missing and was believed to be on the lake. Following a search of the lake conducted by multiple agencies, the body of the man was located, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT: MOTORCYCLE VS DEER CRASH IN TOWN OF RUSSELL

Last Week, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted 34 traffic stops and 24 security checks. There were 13 calls involving cars hitting deer. On Saturday, deputies were dispatched to the Town of Russell on State Highway 17 near County Highway X for a motorcycle vs deer crash. Reports stated the driver had sustained a major head injury but was breathing. Investigation at the scene revealed the motorcycle struck a deer while travelling northbound on State Highway 17. Motorcyclist Hurt in Oneida County Crash

A motorcycle vs pickup truck collision in Oneida County early Sunday resulted in one person being injured. The Pine Lake Fire Department says emergency crews were called just after midnight to the area of River Road and Forest Point Drive. The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to Aspirus Hospital for treatment of injuries. The pickup driver was not hurt. Authorities have not released any additional details. Emergency personnel remained at the scene for about an hour.

Lincoln County Courthouse Clock Tower Set for Major Restoration

The Lincoln County Courthouse clock tower is set for another chapter in its long history as crews prepare for an extensive restoration of the historic timepiece. Construction on the courthouse began in 1899, with the building completed in 1903 after nationwide labor strikes delayed the project. Built with approximately one million bricks, the courthouse rises nearly 200 feet to the top of its flagpole and remains a working courthouse more than 120 years later.
