Bluejay Boys Drop Double-Header to Plover
In a pair of games heard right here on WJMT and wjmtfm.com, a depleted Merrill Bluejays Post 46 squad dropped a pair of conference baseball games to Plover, losing the first game 13-0 in 4 1/2 innings and the nightcap after a short rain delay 12-1 also in 4 1/2 innings. The losses saw the Bluejays record fall to 2-8, while the Black Sox of Plover saw their record increase to 8-6.
Eric Grunenwald started the first game for Merrill and took the loss. He was relieved in the fourth inning by AmericInn Player of the Game Kullin Amundson. In the second game, Ethan Spade started for the bluejays and gave way to AmericInn Player of the Game Cole Rudie. In the second game, the Black Sox scored all of their twelve runs in the first inning, and after that, Rudie shut down the Black sox, pitching out of bases loaded jams in the last three innings of the game.
The boys resume action tonight hosting the Black Sox at Athletic Park, while the Merrill girls also play tonight, hosting Crandon in a game at the MARC. Coverage of the girls’ game will begin with the Nicolet Bank pre-game show at 6:45 and first pitch at 7:00 and can be heard on WJMT, wjmtfm.com, and the WJMT app and seen, weather permitting, on WJMT-TV on YouTube.
